EXPOSE THE DEEDS OF DARKNESS
"It takes immense courage to come to the realization that you’re being abused. And ANOTHER level of courage to finally tell someone. If someone approaches you with the unfortunate news that they are being abused, ask how you can help. Don’t question them." Camren Bicondova
PRAY: Heavenly Father, You tell me to have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather You expose them. The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Anything not of those fruits are to be exposed. Violence is a deed of darkness and not a fruit of Your Spirit. When these deeds are exposed Lord, please turn my abusers heart to abhor their own actions, repent from them genuinely, and heal. My heart breaks from the fruitless deeds done against me from domestic violence, but I will not have anything to do with them. Please save me Jesus. This is Your temple, please guard it in every way. Show me how to expose these deeds according to YOUR WAY. And in a way that is in line with Your Word. This is so hard God, but You know how to do this perfectly. What is impossible with man, is possible with God. Please direct me and help me. In Jesus' Name, Amen
REFLECT: Paul was very bold in not only naming the people for whom he was thankful, but he also called out the names of the people who made trouble. He believed in exposing the darkness so that others would be protected and the truth would come into the light. In 2 Timothy 4:14 he says "Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done." Paul was not afraid to let everyone know who was not following the Lord, in word or in deed. He wanted nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness and so he exposed Alexander and his evil. Why don't we truthfully and boldly do the same thing and expose the fruitless deeds of darkness in our lives?
ACT: Right now, commit to exposing the fruitless deeds of darkness and call out the names of anyone who is treating you with disrespect, anger, evil, or abuse. You and the Lord can hear who they are. Now make a plan to have nothing to do with dark deeds and words. Can you talk to your abuser about what you've realized and expose the truth? If not, can you talk to someone else about the fruitless deed of darkness? Decide right now that you will no longer have any of this in your home. The Lord will give you the strength as you take one step at a time.

We chose to tackle this difficult issue because, “Domestic violence affects one in three women and one in four men, globally.” A friend, who is a recovering victim, helped with this devotional. We are praying you can get free of being a victim of domestic violence, or you will help a loved one get free. Please forward this to any friend or family member whom you know may need help!
