[The Love Of God] Comfort 預覽
Submit to God, Receive Comfort
Comfort is not earned, it is received. We do not have to earn it. We can seek it by seeking God, but it is something that God gives us in His love, and we receive it. It is a gift and a promise from God to us.
According to Psalms 119:76, we receive the comforting love of God as His servants. To be a servant is to submit to someone else’s authority. To accept someone else’s authority over us. We submit to the one who created us; we submit that what has afflicted us is just and fair in His eyes. That He is building us up and giving us perseverance through the trials we might go through. Trusting that going through these hard times will bring something good into our lives.
As human beings we are going to find that we have to submit to many things during our lives. We have to submit to laws and regulations, to our parents when we are young, to our teachers when we go to school, to our governing authorities as citizens of the country we live in, and many other things. Do you find yourself more secure when you submit to certain rules and regulations? If your answer was yes, you are right. That is because those were meant to make us feel more secure. They are meant to help us live our lives with a certain order and comfort.
When we submit to the love of God, we will find comfort. If we look at the story of the prodigal son in the Bible, we will find that when the son comes back, he submits to his father, and in that submission, he finds love, comfort, forgiveness, hope, and joy. The father did not leave him standing there alone, but he met him halfway. The same happens when we submit ourselves to the love and forgiveness of God. He meets us halfway; he gives us the gift of His love and comfort. He gives us back our joy and happiness.
My prayer today is that we could learn to submit to the will of God and accept that whatever sufferings or trials we may face will bring us closer to His love and comfort. That we might be able to understand that submitting to God does not mean that we lose part of our freedom, but that we gain freedom by living completely surrendered to His love and comfort.
