GO2020 | ENGAGE: February Week 3 — PRAYER預覽
February 18—What’s Your First Response
Read
2 Chronicles 20:1–12
Reflect
We return to the passage from yesterday as we consider our first response in times of crisis or difficulty. How did Jehoshaphat react when he first heard the bad news? What can we learn about personal and corporate prayer from this story? How did the king respond to God’s promise to hear prayer? Prayer leads us to a recognition of God and what he can do, but it also tells us a lot about ourselves. Reflect on these words from Jehoshaphat’s prayer: “We are powerless… We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you!” (verse 12).
Engage
Reread the Scripture passage. You’ve now read it two days in a row. Does anything stand out to you differently than it did yesterday? Consider the ENGAGE questions again. Don’t be afraid of the repetition. We learn more about God each time we read and reread his Word.
· What does it say about God?
· What does it say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verse, Jeremiah 33:3. Spend a few minutes working to memorize it.
