What are you like as a family packing for a holiday? How smoothly do you pack your car? Spare a thought for Moses and Aaron and the leadership of Israel, as they were trying to mobilise two million people to not only leave their enslaved existence, but also to have all the logistical issues covered for food transport, sanitation, and protection.

We cannot be surprised when our steps of faith are met with resistance. For Moses, the risk of leadership was the risk of standing out and the risk of going against the status quo. Pharaoh's reaction was completely irrational and driven by pride. Instead of grieving and helping his people to bounce back, he resorts to revenge as his motivation.

For the people of Israel, they are confronted with their worst fear: that they will be attacked by the forces that had enslaved them for so long. For Moses, he is literally caught between a sea and a hard place, so he cries out to God. But God is not fearful. He is not shocked, He is not troubled or unclear about the future outcomes, and He makes a way in the wilderness!

What are you like under pressure and stress? When you are squeezed, what comes out of you? God makes it very clear that He is looking for loyal faith, trust in His word, and an unshakable hope in Him.

After all the miracles God has already shown the nation of Israel, He now brings them to the brink of the impossible. Even though they massively outnumber the Egyptians, they were not ready or able to fight and a giant sea stood in their way. What about you? Do you feel boxed in, or trapped by your current circumstances? Let me remind you that God already has a way for you, a way of escape, a way of deliverance, a way forward!

After all the years and trials that Moses went through, after allowing God to do the deep work in him in the wilderness, Moses takes all that potential and finds himself at a moment God had been setting him up for all along. Moses tells the people to stand still and see the salvation that God will provide.

God had told them to go, and it didn’t matter that there was an ocean of challenges in front of them. It was time to get moving. The nation of Israel would wind up with the most profound testimony because of this situation. As Joyce Meyer has often said, “No test - No testimony!”
