Not the Solution

So often we lose the fight against suicide because we have decided that simply talking someone out of hurting themselves is enough. What we need to do instead is address the REASON they think they need to.

So, what is it that creates all these problems and, if not addressed, can even lead to suicide?

  1. A lack of purpose
  2. A lack of identity

As important as it is to prevent the act of suicide, when we focus on restoring the lost purpose and identity that leads to the act, we can prevent thoughts of self-harm and suicide from ever taking hold. Clear purpose and identity lead to hope and value.

Ultimately, when we clearly address the cause we can move toward our objective-the reason we were created.

What is the Objective: To align your life to the life that God created you to live.

While this is a lifelong process, the goal of aligning your life to Gods Purpose, is a clear objective that moves us forward. As we grow in our God-given design, we find a purpose that transcends the rest of life and an identity that is bigger than a job, relationship, hurt, or past. If God created the world and us in it with a unique design. We were created to function in a specific way that reflects that design and allows us to grow in our relationship with Him.

Aligning with God’s purpose allows us to:

  1. Overcome the past.
  2. Successfully navigate the transitions of life.
  3. Make clear decisions.
  4. Experience healing in relationships.
  5. Can answer the feelings of hopelessness and despair with the eternal truths given to us by an eternal God.

We must have a clear objective that transcends the ups and downs of life if we are going to live a life that truly makes a difference. It is then, in this life, that we can leave a Legacy that will provide direction for those who come behind us. They follow us as we follow the one who gave us life and we all end up exactly where we were created to be.
