Not the Solution預覽
One of the reasons so many people like the Psalms is because they express what we feel and give us hope when we can’t seem to find it on our own. As we read in our Bible references today, when we are exhausted, we are told that we can rest in hope and when we aren’t sure we have the strength to move on, we have the hope that God will provide what we need.
But even though we are thankful for these and other passages from scripture that give hope, we still struggle. I think that most of us struggle in this area of Hope because we lack an accurate definition. We conclude that hope is just some unknowable thing that only those detached from reality can have. If we cannot understand hope, how can we have it?
Here is a definition that has really helped me:
Hope: The confidence that where I stand right now is not all there is!
We all live inside of a very small circle and most of the time our reality is what is happening right now inside of that circle. Hope tells a different story. Hope acknowledges what is happening in the circle of our reality, but it raises our view to something bigger that transcends what we are living through. Hope says that there is more to this life than what we can see, or feel and that, even though we may not have control, there is one who does.
And where do we find this hope? We find hope in Jesus!
Jesus is our hope because, on the cross, He made forgiveness, new life, and life eternal possible for all who believe!
Jesus:
1. Paid for sin
2. Defeated death
3. Gives new life
4. Secured eternal victory
Hope is found when we finally stop viewing the world from our own position and instead begin to view the world from our position In Christ!
If you have not already, will you decide today to stop trying to figure it all out and instead call out to the one who already has?
One final verse, Romans 10:13:
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Saved from what? From sin, death, hopelessness, and an eternity separated from the God who created us. Call out to Him today and experience the hope that He alone can provide.
