The Light of My Life
“Then God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”
Light is a source of life. It was the first thing that God spoke into existence. We naturally need light in order to live. Light enables us to see clearly. Light sends out energy and causes warmth. Light shows us the way in the darkest of places.
Our minds and hearts also need light to stay alive—a light that we can always depend on whenever we feel afraid, helpless, or weak. God knows this, and He offers Himself to be the light that will always shine for us.
God is the light that will help us see the way out when we face the challenges of life. He gives us courage when we are afraid, hope when we think of giving up, and strength when we feel weak. And most importantly, God is faithful. He won’t let us walk alone in the dark because He will faithfully shine for us, helping us and guiding us through it.

We often let our own experiences and feelings take up too much space in our minds. We worry about what our friends think of us, or the “likes” and “followers” we get on social media that we continuously compare to others’, the things that we feel insecure about, and the list just keeps on going. When we let our fears take over our thoughts and rely on our own strengths, it’s easy for us to be skeptical and lose sight of what is truly important in this life. Through this devotion, let’s learn to focus on God, the Unchanging One. The One who holds our lives, the One we can always depend on. Our perspectives and the way we live will be transformed when our eyes are fixed on Him.
