God, My Forever

Have you ever read the story of David in the Bible? If you have, you will find that David was not a perfect person, but he was called “a man after God’s own heart”. He was willing to do what God wanted him to do. David knew God’s heart.

Jesus came into the world to not only redeem our sins and save us from its consequence, which is death, but He came so that we can know Him personally and have a close relationship with Him. He wants us to know His character, His thoughts, His ways, and most importantly, His love for us. The more we know Him, the more we love Him and are willing to do what pleases Him. The more we know Him, the more we understand His heart.

God is eternal. When we are close to Him, we are letting our hearts be filled with eternity. Because, even if we try to fill our hearts with the things that people consider as great and noble, without God, we will still feel empty inside.

Our personal relationship with God will help us focus on His eternal love instead of the temporary things of this world.

“Now I will see toward eternity

For Your love is one thing that’s forever

I hold on to Your everlasting love

And I know God You won’t let go”

Unchanging

We often let our own experiences and feelings take up too much space in our minds. We worry about what our friends think of us, or the “likes” and “followers” we get on social media that we continuously compare to others’, the things that we feel insecure about, and the list just keeps on going. When we let our fears take over our thoughts and rely on our own strengths, it’s easy for us to be skeptical and lose sight of what is truly important in this life. Through this devotion, let’s learn to focus on God, the Unchanging One. The One who holds our lives, the One we can always depend on. Our perspectives and the way we live will be transformed when our eyes are fixed on Him.
