Imagine you are with your group of friends hanging out. What activity or interest you have in common makes you all friends? Maybe it’s playing a sport, reading a certain genre of book, or something as simple as your parents being friends. Whatever it is, it is probably true that other people would not fit in well because they do not share that same interest or activity.

The fellowship of believers in this passage reveals to us that there is a common interest for anyone who follows Jesus. When the Holy Spirit is present, that is what binds people together. God desires unity among believers, and it doesn’t have to look like a forced friendship. It is as simple as allowing the Holy Spirit to dwell inside of you.

It might feel like there are people in your life that you don’t get along with very well or people you disagree with. Or maybe you feel like you lack community altogether and desire to spread the gospel with other believers but don’t know where to begin. The Church is the body of believers across the globe. They are intended to be the hands and feet of Jesus who spread the gospel and are united in purpose. If you believe in Jesus, you belong to this family. You are not alone. Because of the Holy Spirit, you have a common thread that unites you to a body of believers much bigger than you could ever imagine, with different interests and gifts that help advance God's kingdom.

Pray this Prayer:

God, thank You for the gift of Your Spirit and the supernatural ways that You bring harmony to my relationships. Lead me to the right people to link arms with to find community and share the gospel together. As we do, help Your church be united and keep Your Word and Your will at the center of all we do. Amen.
