WEEK 1, DAY 4—THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. Remember, we’ve got God the Father and Jesus the Son! The Holy Spirit is just that—God, in spirit form!
After he rose again, before he ascended into heaven, Jesus told his disciples he was sending them the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was given to God’s people to be with them 24/7. When you become a Christian, you gain access to the Holy Spirit. He now lives inside your heart!
The Bible describes the Holy Spirit as our advocate, helper, and comforter. The Holy Spirit is God’s spirit in your life, in your school, in your family, and more. The Bible tells us that where the Spirit of God is, there is also freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17).
The Holy Spirit also leads and guides us. Have you ever done something wrong and you just KNOW it was wrong? The Holy Spirit is a godly, holy intuition for our lives. He points us in the right, godly direction, and he shows us when we’re headed down the wrong path, too. The Holy Spirit doesn’t condemn us, but he does show, guide, and direct our paths. And he doesn’t force himself into your life. You have to invite him in and allow him to correct you, and life is so much better when you do!
As you allow him to, he molds you into who you are created to be and produces good things (we call this “fruit”) in your life. Check out Galatians 5 to see more of this.
