WEEK 1, DAY 6—GOD IS TRUTH

In the world today, it can be so hard to believe what’s real and what’s fake. Social media makes it difficult to know whether things are real or fake because it gives people the power to show only what they want to show and not the whole picture. The problem with believing in false truths about people is that it may seem real for a moment, but in time what’s fake will eventually break, and what you thought was the truth can actually turn out to be something completely different.

We believe that truth is found in God. God himself is truth, which means that everything he is, says, and does is true at all times and in all circumstances. Because God is true and unchanging, we need to build our lives on him. Imagine a house built on sand compared to a house built on rock. Which one would you feel more safe living in? The house built on the rock will remain steady even when storms come because it has a strong foundation. It is the same with us. We can either choose to build our lives on the truth of who God is to experience a full and secure life, or we can build our lives on the fake and temporary things of the world to find ourselves constantly shaken by storms.

When you choose to build your life on God, you make him the Lord of your life. That means he can be your guide, your comfort, and your source of strength and truth, but you need to let him guide you, comfort you, correct you, and teach you to do things right. God always has an open invitation for you to discover him as the source of all things true and constant. Will you accept the invitation to make him the Lord of your life?
