When the kids are little, it seems the mommy tasks will never end. Diaper changes, late-night feedings, tummy time, and playdates fill the days. As they get a little older, soon you find yourself making homemade Play-Doh for the kindergarten class or getting talked into being your son’s fourth-grade homeroom parent. When “Mommy” transforms into “Mom,” you think you might have it easier, but then there are sports tryouts, band practices, Girl Scout cookie sales, and driver’s education until you are thinking about college applications.

Every stage of your child’s development is precious, from babyhood to the teenage years and beyond. Watching your kiddos grow and blossom into the people they will become is one of the most amazing experiences life has to offer. But sometimes, Mama, it can seem daunting as you find yourself juggling . . . All.The.Things.

Let’s face it. It’s even more daunting doing it as a single mom. Remembering absolutely everything—from when library books are due to when permission slips need to be turned in—can seem almost impossible some days. But you know what? God picked you—yes, you—to be the mama of these particular kiddos, and He knew you could handle it! He knew what your circumstances would be, and He picked you just for them. You can do it, Mama. Take a deep breath, and realize that He is right by your side, today and on all the days from here on.

Lord, sometimes all the things I have to remember and keep track of overwhelm me. Thank you for the reminder that I am not alone. You are always with me. Amen.
