Dear Single Mom, You’re Doing Great! 10 Devotions of God’s Love Amid the Chaosنموونە

NECESSARY REST
In a world that glorifies productivity and celebrates the hustle, the pressure to constantly be on the go can feel suffocating. From dawn till dusk, the life of a single mama is often consumed by a relentless pursuit of tasks and accomplishments. Long workdays bleed into evenings, and weekends blur into an extension of the workweek. Even in our moments of rest, the omnipresent glow of our electronic devices beckons, demanding our attention and tethering us to the never-ending cycle of busyness.
In the middle of this cultural obsession with productivity, there exists a sacred invitation—a beckoning to rest. It’s a call to pause, to step away from the frenetic pace of life, and to find solace in the quiet rhythms of Sabbath rest.
Rest is not merely a luxury; it is a necessity—an essential component of our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. And yet, in a society that prizes productivity above all else, rest is often dismissed as frivolous or unnecessary. But the truth remains: rest is vital for our health and wholeness, and it is a gift bestowed upon us by a loving and gracious God.
In the midst of our relentless pursuit of productivity, we must dare to defy the status quo. We must learn to rest without hesitation, without guilt, and without apology. We must carve out moments of respite amid the chaos of our daily lives, prioritizing time with our families, with our Creator, and in communion with the natural world He has so beautifully crafted.
It’s natural to feel the weight of expectation bearing down upon us—the fear that the world will come crashing down if we dare to step away from our endless to-do lists. But we must push back against these lies, recognizing that our worth is not contingent upon our productivity. We are beloved daughters of God Himself, and He invites us to lay down our burdens and find rest in Him.
I need to rest, Lord, but I have so much to do. Help me remember that productivity isn’t the most important thing in life, and that it’s okay to step back and relax for a while. In fact, it’s what You ask me to do. Amen.
