Hopeful Future

As followers of God, it’s important to make sure our perspective is aligned with his. Right now, things in the world are not as they should be. Life is difficult, messy, and troublesome. Relationships are broken and much more work than we anticipated. Our efforts are sometimes met with disappointment. It sounds depressing, but we have to remember that the circumstances of this life are not our source of hope. Instead, we find hope when we anticipate the fulfillment of God’s promises.

Scripture tells us that there is more to life than our current circumstances. It paints a beautiful picture of what life will be like when God restores his creation. His Word provides us with periodic glimpses of the glory we will experience in eternity. Everything that is lost will be found. Everything that is broken will be mended. He will wipe away our tears, and we will never experience pain again. There will be an end to suffering, injustice, and wickedness.

The hope of spending eternity with God helps us persevere when life is hard. We know that our current struggles will not last forever. We can be patient because we don’t doubt that he will fulfill his promises, and we can have courage because we know that he will be victorious in the end. We can walk through trials with our eyes on Jesus because we trust in his perfect plan.

As hard as today may be, do not lose hope that perfection is on the way. May your current disappointments and struggles push you toward greater trust in God. Your faithfulness through trials builds strength in a way that easy circumstances can’t. Lean on the Lord, remember that he sees you, and don’t give up.
