Week 2 — Built to Withstand

Day 13: When Growth Feels Slow

Biblical Basis: Ecclesiastes 3:1 (ESV)

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

The seasons of spiritual growth are governed by God’s perfect timing. Ecclesiastes reminds us that growth is not always rapid or visible; sometimes it is slow, quiet, and even imperceptible.

Frustration often arises when we measure progress by what we see or feel. We sometimes find ourselves checking in with God for a status up as if he is operation on our timeline instead of us trusting the longevity of his process for us. Still, Scripture invites us to trust the unseen work of God’s timing.

This truth is essential for endurance: the willingness to remain faithful in the waiting to continue sowing, watering, and tending even when immediate fruit is absent.

God’s timing is never late, even when it feels slow. Growth in character, faith, and leadership is a process, often hidden, but purposeful.

Patience is not passive resignation but an active trust that God is working, preparing the soil, and orchestrating growth beyond our view.

DEEP Reflection:

  • D – Draw Near to God:
Pray: “Lord, help me to trust Your timing when growth feels slow or invisible. Teach me patience and faithfulness.”
  • E – Examine the Text:
Read Ecclesiastes 3:1–8. What different seasons does the writer describe? How might these apply to spiritual growth?
  • E – Engage Your Heart:
Where have you felt discouraged by slow progress? How might trusting God’s seasons shift your perspective?
  • P – Practice the Principle: Identify one area where you can intentionally wait on God’s timing this week. Commit to faithful persistence rather than frustration.

By the end of your day, reflect on the following question: How can you shift your focus from speed to depth in your spiritual growth?

See you on day fourteen.
