Free PeopleSample

When most of us think of God, we think of rules, restrictions, and hearing “no” a lot. The more miserable and boring our lives are, the happier God is, right?
But in today’s verse Paul tells us that where God’s spirit is, there’s freedom. So what if our idea of God is wrong? What if following God isn’t about being boring or miserable? It doesn’t mean there aren’t things that we shouldn’t do because they aren’t helpful, healthy, or honoring to other people. But what if we stopped seeing God as a “no” God and instead saw Him as a God who’s inviting us to live life of freedom? A life where the “no’s” to some things lead to more freedom later?
Today, talk to someone about how remembering that God is a God of freedom might change the way you see Him.

About this Plan

It’s easy to see faith as just a list of dos and don’ts we have to keep in order to make God happy. But what if this view of faith is missing the mark? We’ll discover that Jesus didn’t come to keep us captive to a list of rules. In fact, just the opposite is true! Because of Jesus, we get to live as free people.
