Week Two: What Is the Good News?
Memory verse for January 19-25: John 17:3
January 19
Jesus offered his followers a full and fulfilling life, one that would not only last into eternity, but have eternal significance. He called it an “abundant” life (see John 10:10), and he claimed that he was the only source of that life. When we talk about sharing our faith with others, what do we really mean by that? What do we want them to be a part of, to taste and enjoy for themselves? In one of his last prayers before his death, Jesus prayed that his followers would “know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent”—this, he said, was what eternal life was all about (John 17:3). This week, you’ll be stepping back to reflect on what it means to have the eternal kind of life: knowing the True God and knowing Jesus Christ whom he has sent.
