It introduces us to a people in captivity, and their collective strength to stay true to God, which we see most powerfully in the main character, Daniel. These first two chapters, set the scene of the ensuing narrative, introducing us to Daniel as a young man. We also witness Daniel’s unique gift to interpret dreams, a gift from God that proves incredibly helpful as Daniel is used by God to gain influence in a new city away from his home and family.
