Judges 6:24 ESV

Then Gideon built an altar there to the Lord and called it, The Lord is Peace...

The enemy had devoured Israel, their crops, their prosperity, their freedom, their peace. The people were living in hiding. (Much like today!) 

When Israel was brought low they cried out to the Lord. (Why does it take a crisis for our prayer lives to revive?)

In the middle of the crisis, Gideon had a powerful encounter with God! (It’s amazing the good that can come out of a crisis!)

God reassured Gideon that He was with him. God hardly answered Gideon’s questions, for God is not obliged to explain everything to us. Although nothing changed on the outside, something happened inside Gideon (that’s what encounters with God do!). He received the revelation of one of God’s names - Yahweh Shalom - The Lord is Peace.

In spite of his circumstances, Gideon was filled with peace. The kind only God can give.

John 14:27 NKJV

Peace I leave with you, My Peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Jesus has given you His own Peace! His Peace will see you through this time. 

May you have powerful encounters with God like Gideon! May you hear Him speak and may all the storms in your heart cease! May you learn to live there.

Meditate:

* Read Judges 6

Pray: 

* Cast all your cares on the Lord. Be real. 

* Ask Him to speak to you from His word, through dreams, through visions, whichever He chooses. 

* Pray for your needs.
