Moments for Mums: IdentitySample

Have you ever bumped into someone from your high school or childhood and suddenly find yourself reverting to mannerisms, feelings and thoughts from that time? You may be so different now but that old identity creeps back in.

What about past mistakes? I have sometimes struggled to release the shame, carrying around this identity of failure and fraud. 

We have this promise in Christ. He washes all sin and shame away and we can step completely away from that old person and into a new life. 

We have a fresh start before us to make different choices, release shame and grow more fully into who God has called us to be. This transformation comes from the inside out, a work of the Holy Spirit within us. We get to partner with Him by making the choice to live this new life instead of going back to our old life.

Jesus, thank you for this gift of new life. Help us to live it to the full and turn away from our old ways of living that separate us from you. Amen
