DAY 2 OF 7

Just Ask

WHAT DOES IT SAY?

Read: John 4:11–15

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Yesterday’s devotion taught us that Jesus is the source we can run to. Reading today’s scriptures, we can see that the Samaritan woman was eager to hear more of what Jesus was saying. In verse 15, the Samaritan woman asked Jesus if she could have the kind of water He told her about. She gave Jesus the invitation He needed to move in her life by asking. She simply asked, and Jesus was ready to respond.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO US?

Jesus is about a relationship, and He desires to have one with YOU.

A relationship begins with simple conversations. As we’ve discovered, Jesus is the source, but for Him to move in your life, you must ASK Him to do so. During her conversation with Jesus, the Samaritan woman asked Him if she “could have this water.” This question allowed Jesus to respond to her. Did you know that Jesus is ready to respond to you?

He is waiting for the opportunity to meet whatever need you have. Though Jesus already knows what you need, He will never force Himself upon you. Instead, He will wait for you to ask Him. Asking Jesus to satisfy you is simple … it is a conversation. For example, if you need peace in your life, ASK Him. Jesus will not satisfy your soul with peace if you don't ask Him for peace.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Take the next five minutes to write down what you need from Jesus, AND THEN ask Him to give it to you. (example: “Jesus, I come to you, and I ask that you would free me from my fears and give me peace.”)
