Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Look at "Us

DAY 17 OF 31

David yearned for God all his life. His longing for God began in his youth. It was because of his heart that God chose him to be the king of Israel in place of Saul.

David gave his whole heart to God. We know that David was far from perfect. He sinned. He made mistakes. But each time he fell into sin, he admitted it to God and repented. God saw his heart and anointed him.

Being anointed means being equipped with spiritual understanding to do God’s will that glorifies His name.

Do you know that you and I are anointed like David? God’s anointing is not only given to leaders and preachers, but to us all. This anointing gives us power over sin, temptation and evil. More than that, it gives us a way to pray and worship God. It also makes it possible for us to spread the Good News to the people around us, even though we may have lots of flaws and shortcomings, like David.

God sees our heart like a transparent jar, nothing is hidden from Him. When we please Him with our thoughts, words, and deeds, God knows and He helps us in spite of our weaknesses. Let’s have a heart that is focused on God, and a heart that loves Him; letting God’s anointing work in our lives mightily.

Devotion for Parents
When the weakness of our flesh make us feel like we are unworthy to be His witnesses, may God’s anointing strengthen us and remind us that we are made worthy in him. Don’t give up. Focus your heart completely on God. Surrender your life to Him and allow Him to work through you.

Devotion for Kids
Being anointed by God doesn’t mean that your life becomes perfect automatically. You may still have weaknesses, but the Holy Spirit will help you leave all those behind and enable you to do the things that please God. That’s what anointing really is - we are given the power to do His will.

Family Devotion Time
We may be able to hide the content of our hearts well from other people, even from our own family. But we can’t hide from God. He knows exactly what’s in our heart and He wants to help us live a victorious life. Despite our weaknesses, God can work mightily. Today, let’s surrender our lives to God, including our weaknesses. Trust Him to work in us and through us as we become better people day by day.
