Plot TwistSample
It doesn’t happen often, but have you ever seen a movie or read a book where the main character, the person who the whole story was about, suddenly . . . dies? Maybe the reason it doesn’t happen often is that, without the main character, the whole story feels over. I imagine that's exactly how it felt to Jesus' friends and followers when he, the guy who had been the main character in their story for years, was suddenly gone. One day, crowds were celebrating Jesus — but just a few days later, they were celebrating his death. And why did Jesus die? In short, because of sin. "Sin" is a word that describes the brokenness that exists in us and the whole world. Jesus always knew sin would lead to his death, even if it seemed like a plot twist to his followers. But Jesus willingly chose death because he knew another plot twist was on the way. He knew his death would mean life for everyone else. Because when sin brings death, Jesus gives life.

About this Plan
Whether it’s your favorite movie, book, or reality show, you know there's nothing like a good plot twist! A plot twist can make us rethink everything we thought we knew about the story. In this 30-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, designed for Lent we’ll focus on how Jesus experienced “life-plot twists” and how he is with us when we go through unexpected moments in our life.
