DAY 20 OF 28

Have you ever found yourself becoming like the people you hang out with most? Spending time with others significantly impacts how you talk, act, or think. Sometimes, this means we pick up a few new mannerisms or jokes, but it can also go deeper than this.

The good news for followers of Jesus is that his ways tend to rub off on us when we follow him closely. Our desires change. The way we act or think is impacted by Jesus' words.

So, how does this happen? The Holy Spirit, a constant reminder of God's comfort, works in us, making us more like Jesus. When we follow the ways of Jesus, we are more likely to love others and live the way Jesus did.

What we pick up from Jesus will be actual evidence of his ways — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Most times, these qualities aren't our natural, go-to ways of living. It's only by the grace of God that our lives begin to reflect the ways of Jesus.

Ask yourself, how do you want to be more like Jesus? Do you need that unshakable joy, despite the difficult circumstances in your life? Do you want to remain faithful in a world full of broken promises? Do you desire to be kind when others are dismissive and hurtful? Living by Jesus' words and listening out for the Holy Spirit will help you live this way.

Day 19Day 21

About this Plan

I Am

When Jesus was on earth, there were a few times when he told his followers exactly who he was. For the next four weeks, we'll explore some of these stories to find out how Jesus described himself to others. We'll take a look at what changes when we hear Jesus tell us he is love, he is truth, he is always with us, and how he is our Savior.
