DAY 8 OF 28

Years ago, writing a research paper was work. Finding useful sources often meant reading a newspaper, heading down to your local library to search through the archives, or, worse — asking someone for help. Today, searching for answers to your questions is as simple as pulling out your phone and typing a few words into a search engine.

It's truly remarkable how easy it is to find answers to our questions when we really want them, but now we're left with a different problem. How do we know what's true? Our search results might be full of websites with different answers, so how do we know what's most accurate?

When it came to understanding God, Jesus didn't want his disciples to be stuck with the same question. So when one of his friends had a question, Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life." If we want to know the truth about who God is or what God is like, we just have to look to Jesus and the things he did. Jesus is God embodied, and he walked around showing people what God was all about.

So as we connect with Jesus and learn to live for, believe, and love God, we'll understand God in new ways. When we follow the teachings and example of Jesus, we begin to learn the truth about God. Whenever we have big questions about God, we can always look to Jesus to help us answer them because Jesus is the truth.

About this Plan

I Am

When Jesus was on earth, there were a few times when he told his followers exactly who he was. For the next four weeks, we'll explore some of these stories to find out how Jesus described himself to others. We'll take a look at what changes when we hear Jesus tell us he is love, he is truth, he is always with us, and how he is our Savior.
