Promises in Receiving ChristSample
Promise 13: You are given God’s guidance as you walk day by day.
Once you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, God begins to lead and guide you by His Spirit. There are several ideas in the word lead or guide.
- There is the idea of carrying and bearing along. The Spirit leads and carries you through the trials of this life. He bears you up, helping you rise above the corruptions of this world.
- There is the idea of leading and guiding along. The Spirit leads and guides you along the way of righteousness and truth. He guides you by moving in advance, going ahead of you. He blazes the path, making sure you know where to walk (see John 16:13; Gal.5:18; 2 Pet.1:21).
- There is the idea of directing on a course and of bringing along to an end. The Spirit directs you where to go and how to get there, and He brings you to your destined end. The Spirit actually becomes involved in your life, directing you to live righteously and conforming you to the image of Christ. He brings you to your destined end, that is, to heaven, to live eternally in the presence of God Himself.
This is one of the great powers of the Holy Spirit, the power to lead you and to become involved in your life. In fact, one evidence or proof that you are a child of God is just this: Are you being led by the Spirit of God (Rom.8:14)? Very simply, are you living for God and seeking His guidance through the study of His Holy Word, prayer, and bearing strong witness for Him? If you are truly doing these things, then the Spirit of God will lead and guide you day by day.
