Psalms - Wisdom for LifeSample

The book of Psalms is one of the Old Testament ‘wisdom books’ in the Bible, along with the books of Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs. In the Psalms, we learn thankfulness and praise, prayer and hope. We discover God and His nature, and we see His plan unfold. God’s word gives us wisdom for life. One very important piece of wisdom is about the name of Jesus.
There are some brand names that almost everyone on earth would recognize, such as Apple, Coca-Cola, Google… Can you think of any other brands? Brands like these have their names splashed across our TV screens, airwaves, and billboards. These companies are worth billions of dollars and have the power to influence how we live, how we relate to one another, what we consume, and even how we think. But there is a name that is greater, a name that is higher, and a name that is more powerful than any of these. That name is Jesus!
Jesus’ name is higher than the name of any brand. The name of Jesus is higher than the name of any sickness. The name of Jesus is higher than the name of any celebrity or world leader. Jesus is the Name above all names. The Psalms show us not only that it is wise to worship Jesus and put Him first but also that His name is higher than any trouble we face.
True wisdom is relying on God, obeying His Word, and putting our hope and trust in Him.
