Breath of My BelovedSample
Breath of My Beloved
What I love about the word Breath, is that it's proof of life and intimacy. As women, we are captivated by our new baby's breath. And, think about it, our children love being near “our breath,” drawn in close to our bodies. In physical activity or in bed falling asleep, we are conscious of our breathing, our living breath.
In Genesis, The Beginning, we understand that God made mankind in His own Image and breathed into man His BREATH or Spirit of Life. And, even before the creation of the world, God, chose us in Himself and in Love, predestined us for adoption (an heir) through Jesus Christ (Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:7, Ephesians 1:4-5).
To think that God had a clear plan and definite framework for us, in His Image, as a son/daughter, alive by His own Breath, before He actually made the world, is staggering, humbling, and powerful! God wanted us, loved us, and chose us, In Christ, before the Beginning.
The word DWELL means to live, stay, where one hangs her shawl. The word ABIDE means to sit, tarry, remain stable. Psalm 91:1 speaks of us dwelling in the secret place of the Most High and abiding under the shadow of the Almighty. Jesus presses us to “abide (remain) in Him and He will abide (remain) in us” (John 15:4 & 7). As we look into the mirror of His Word, we behold ourselves as He sees us - our right standing being HIS Righteousness.
I so love this word in Hosea 2:23b. “I will call those who were not my people ‘My People’, and her who was not loved, ‘Beloved’.”
And, Hagar, in despair and isolation, says, “You are the God who sees me.” And, “Have I truly seen the One who sees me?” (Genesis 16:13, NLT). Our Father God always “sees us.” He has set His Love upon us. His Desire is toward us. He invites us into His Life-Changing Presence 24/7.
Consider the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1), where the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil flourished. Just as the Tree of Life had been available for choosing, God's Life is available today to trust and lean into.
As we put His Word in first place, He abides in us. We'll find that His Spirit guides our steps and shows us things to come. We'll have overflow to love and serve others and will become confident in His Planning and Purposes for our lives.
Today, can you SEE the One who sees YOU and calls you BELOVED? Can you recognize His Image and Breath that dwell inside of you?
