Breath of My BelovedSample
God’s Breath... Our Hope!
In Ezekiel 37:5 (NLT) this is what the Sovereign Lord says, "Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again!"
This promise echoes with the Creation Narrative, where God first breathed into Adam, enabling him to live.
Here God promises to "bring to life again" something that has died. What is fascinating is that God is not simply promising to resuscitate a body that stopped breathing but to give life to a body that has undergone decay, to the degree that the bones have completely dried out and are scattered in what appears to be a mass graveyard.
God gives Ezekiel an extensive tour of these dry bones, leaving no question about their condition, and then asks if the bones can live again.
Sidenote - Growing up on a farm, I encountered many dry animal bones. I can vouch that a completely logical, rational answer to that question would be, "No, it’s impossible!!" Trying to piece together a skeleton would be a very challenging task, let alone adding all the organs, muscles, and skin… And then to make it live?! NOT POSSIBLE!! NO HOPE!! These bodies are dead, decayed, and discarded!
Interestingly, Ezekiel’s response focuses on God, not the state of the bones. He says to God, "ONLY YOU know the answer." And God responds with an instruction to prophesy to the bones that His Breath will bring them to life.
SUPERNATURALLY… from these dry bones… a mighty army is formed... by the BREATH OF GOD!
Mark 10:27 (NIV) says, “With man, this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
What is God wanting to show you today that has died, decayed, and been discarded as impossible?
Maybe it’s a relationship, marriage, prodigal friends or family, finances, business, prophetic word, idea or dream, the Call of God, peace, hope, joy, your health.. ?
It’s time to prophesy to those dry bones that God’s Breath will bring them to life!
Get ready to witness a miracle unfold!
