DAY 3 OF 5

Why Should I Become a Leader?

Leadership is a good thing! In today’s reading, Paul calls leadership is called a “noble pursuit.”

What does that mean? It means don't just float through life—moment by moment—think "big picture." Who am I? What's my purpose? Leadership provides answers to these questions! When you pursue answers to these questions, you'll find out more than you can imagine about yourself and what you're gifted to do.

However, you need to actively pursue it. It won't passively come to you. You have to seek it and want it to be a part of your life. Does your church or school have a place where you can jump in and lend a hand? That’s a great place to start!

Leadership brings out the best parts of us. Seeing yourself as a leader will help you become better. How? Knowing someone is counting on you changes how you approach things.

For example, when you’re assigned to work on a group project, you know that you’re responsible for getting your part done. And if you don’t it’s not only your grade that will be affected, but also the grades of the other students working on the project with you.

Leadership leads us to greater experiences. We want to be part of something bigger than ourselves.

Faith on our own, pursued independently of others, is important. Cultivating a personal relationship with Jesus is huge in our ability to continue to lead others towards Him.

But being a part of (and especially leading in) key faith moments WITH others is just different.

At some point, simple participation isn't as satisfying. Taking opportunities to lead unlocks something new in us: it grows us personally and spiritually, and it also helps to grow our capacity.

Stop watching it happen, and start making it happen.

If you're not leading, you're missing out on something. Leadership unlocks new things in our faith, life, and relationships. You can bring something to the table that nobody else can.

What is a leader? How does God want me to lead? These are the questions we will be studying as we move through this plan. God’s directions, or blueprints, in the way you lead, unlocks new things in our faith, life, and relationships. And this plan is a great starting point for figuring out what that can look like in your life!
