Blueprints for Biblical LeadershipSample
How Does God Want Me to Lead?
Sometimes we end up overcomplicating leadership. So we are going to use these easy leadership hacks to maximize the possibility of us effectively leading people in a Godly way. When we look at the blueprint, or plan that Paul has laid out for us, we have a guide to figuring out how to lead well.
Hack 1: Love God, Love Others.
In today’s reading, Paul says, "Command and teach these things." What things?
Jesus said all the law and prophets (the Bible) are summarized in these two commands: Love God and love others. We find that in the second of today’s readings from the book of Matthew. Leadership by God's design cannot happen if those two things are not constant priorities.
Hack 2: Be An Example.
We read today that there is no age requirement in God's kingdom. You can start leading right now from the seat you're sitting in. But it’s important to note that other people won't see you as a leader until you've earned it. So be a good example of leadership, and you’ll earn the respect from those around you and gain the ability to help others see God’s love and light!
Hack 3: Use Your Gifts.
God has given you unique abilities to see things other people don't see and affect changes other people cannot. Some of you may be incredibly gifted at starting a conversation with a kid who is sitting all by themselves. Some of you may be gifted at looking at a document and immediately knowing what words are spelled wrong. Some of you may be gifted musically or theatrically. These and many other examples are unique gifts God has given you for the sole purpose of using them to glorify Him!
Hack 4: Don't Quit.
In 1 Timothy 4:16, Paul tells us to persevere. Why? Leadership is not always easy. It's not glamorous. Oftentimes you’re called to do things that other people don’t want to do. You get to things early to set up; you stay late to clean up, all so that other people have the opportunity to enjoy themselves. When it's hard you will want to give up, but that's why it's important to pay attention to growing in God and for God.
Godly leadership is different. It's a unique way to lead, but it's the best way to lead.
