Leadership can look like a lot of different things. There are good examples and bad examples of leadership playing out in front of us daily. But the most important thing is that you are pursuing leadership the way God calls us to and that you are utilizing the Bible as your guide to leading well.

Stay focused on what matters as you pursue leadership. Keep your ego out of it. Your calling is valuable, and becoming someone who is arrogant or who has a bad attitude will get in the way of what God is trying to do to impact the kingdom through you!

Continue to be humble. Keep empowering those around you the way Paul empowered Timothy. Don’t neglect the fact that the very best leaders lead by example! And love others well while you lead; it makes a world of difference!

Remember that your habits are going to help you stay focused on what God is asking of you. Prayer, Bible reading, meditating on His Word, going to church, engaging in worship, participating in youth group conversations—all of these things are small habits we can place in our daily lives that will help us sense what God wants us to do as we lead others to see His glory.

If you’re not sure what leadership opportunities are out there, that’s okay! Start by praying and asking God. You can check out the social media pages of your church, your community library, clubs, and schools. Begin investigating and looking around for places to lend a hand and step up. There might even be ways you can help lead in your own family that you’re not aware of! As you spend time with God seeking opportunities, you’ll begin to develop eyes to see who you can help. You’d be surprised! There are opportunities to be a leader in so many ways.
