The Wholehearted Love You’ve Always WantedSample
Is God Really Good?
Scripture tells us that God is love and that true love comes only from Him. So why do we have such a hard time receiving it? Why are the wounds that have cut us so deeply the only voice we allow ourselves to hear?
The problem is that we attach our worth to our experiences. There is something beautiful and innocent about the love we show others and the trust we have in them. But when we experience violations of love and trust in our lives, it wounds us to our core and makes us tell ourselves things like I’m not good enough or no one could ever love me and maybe even God is holding out on me.
Pulling back the curtain of our lives to see a bigger picture can change our perspectives. When we consider God’s character, we understand that our pain from human violations of love and trust can all be redeemed by Him. His redemption, His grace, and His love go beyond reason.
In fact, God chose you before the creation of the world. It may feel more like truth to believe you were not chosen. All the past rejection from friends, family, school, work, and so on can make that feel like the truth, but it’s not. You were chosen by the one who created the world. He designed you to be you, from before the time you were in your mother’s womb.
And the good news doesn’t end there. When we accept Jesus, God no longer sees us for our old selves. He sees us as new creations, holy and without blame. We become daughters and sons of the King of kings. And His love for us never ends. It continues today, tomorrow, and every day into the future.
God’s love never changes because He never changes. He doesn’t get tired. He never grows faint or weary. He is always good, and His goodness is not dictated by circumstances, feelings, wrongful actions, or any type of human wisdom. God’s goodness is dictated by who He is. He is good in the times you experience joy; He is just as good when you are experiencing your worst heartache.
The pain you have experienced in your life is very real. You may have many questions about it. Why did it happen to me while someone else was protected from it? There are no simple answers. But what is true is that God is good no matter what happens. It’s His nature, it’s the way He has been throughout time, and it’s the way He will continue to be.
No matter what has happened to you or what toxic thoughts you believe about yourself, you have a truer identity that God wants you to know about: you are His precious child. He wants to reframe the way you are treated, and He wants to lavish His perfect love and goodness on you.
