Take a Bow

DAY 22 OF 28

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT BELOW

When you hear the word strong, what comes to mind? Do you think of an athlete, a superhero, or maybe even a gorilla? When we think about strength, we often think about physical power and capability. While that makes sense, it’s not what the Apostle Paul meant by the word in his letter to the Corinthians. He called those reading to find strength in their weaknesses. Yes, you read that right, and yes, it sounds backward.

As followers of Jesus, our strength comes from knowing we can’t do it alone. We’re just not strong enough, but with God’s power, we can be. And we tap into that power in our lives by admitting our weaknesses—acknowledging that we need God’s help to live as we’re called to live. When we humble ourselves enough to ask for it, God’s power will work in us to give us strength to do… well, just about anything!

This week, think about just one area of your life where you’re tempted to handle it all alone. What would it look like to go to God in humility and ask for strength and help to do it with God’s help instead?
