The Secret of Prayer

DAY 10 OF 14

Living by a Higher Law

Just as an airplane defies gravity by operating under the higher law of aerodynamics. We, too, can rise above the pull of sin by living under the higher law of the Spirit. Sinful desires, like gravity, seek to hold us down, keeping us bound to old patterns, temptations, and weaknesses. But through the power of God’s divine nature, we are not meant to remain grounded—we are empowered to soar in freedom.

The key to overcoming sin is not sheer willpower but transformation through God’s promises. “Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires” (2 Peter 1:4).

The more we fill our hearts with God’s truth, the less room there is for sin to take hold. Instead of striving to resist sin in our own strength, we should immerse ourselves in God’s promises.

Psalm 37:4 reveals a powerful key to this transformation: “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” As we delight in Him, our desires begin to change. The more we focus on His goodness, presence, and Word, the more our hearts align with His will. Sin loses its appeal because we no longer crave what once held us captive—we crave Him instead.

God doesn’t just call us to resist sin; He calls us to live in the joy and abundance of His divine nature. The more we walk in the Spirit, the more we rise above the weight of sin—until it loses its grip entirely.
