10 F-Words for the Faith-Driven EntrepreneurSample

3. FOLLOW
The work of entrepreneurship often starts with blazing your own trail. But scaling a business? That requires listening more, in addition to just leading. For the Faith-Driven Entrepreneur, success isn’t just about building what you believe in – it’s also about being attentive to what’s actually bearing fruit.
Many founders fall in love with their product or idea. That passion is good – but it can become a trap. If you’re not careful, you’ll spend years refining something no one is actually buying. It’s not enough to create something excellent. You have to create something that meets a need.
Check the example from the Bible where the disciples had been fishing all night with no success:
“He said, ‘Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.’ When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.” – John 21:6 NIV
Jesus gave a simple instruction: cast the net on the other side. Same boat. Same sea. Just a different direction. And when they followed, the breakthrough came.
The same is true in business. You may be working hard – but are you listening for God’s direction? Are you paying attention to what your customers are asking for, what the market is telling you, and where the Spirit might be nudging you to shift? Check the word of God to the prophet Isaiah:
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” – Isaiah 30:21 NIV
Following doesn’t mean abandoning your convictions. It means being humble enough to adapt. It means that you don’t idolize your first idea or cling to your favorite product just because it’s yours. Instead, you stay open. Open to data. Open to feedback. Open to God.
The best entrepreneurs aren’t just inventors – they’re observers. They follow customer behavior. They track results. They let the market speak, and then they respond accordingly. And more than that, the Faith-Driven Entrepreneur is watching for where God is already at work – and joining Him there.
Following doesn’t mean weakness. It’s wisdom. It’s what allows you to shift your messaging, adjust your pricing, enter a new channel, or reframe your offer – not out of panic, but out of insight. Jesus didn’t call us to charge blindly ahead. He called us to follow Him. That applies in business just as much as in life.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5–6 NIV
You don’t need to reinvent everything. You just need to be attentive to what’s working, what’s missing, and what God is showing you in this season.
Scaling your business happens when you stop forcing outcomes and start following the flow of wisdom, clarity, and Kingdom opportunity. That’s when growth becomes not just possible – but sustainable.
For the Faith-Driven Entrepreneur, following well may be the most strategic move you ever make.
