Christ is Life
“For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself” (John 5:26, NIV). Those words reveal that Jesus is self-existent and did not depend on anyone for life, since he has always had life and is the life (John 14:6). These words also coincide with the nature of God.
The Bible begins with God giving life (Genesis 1-2). When Adam was created, the LORD breathed his breath of life into him (Genesis 2:7). Moreover, the New Testament confirms Jesus’ role in creating life (John 1:3, Colossians 1:16). Now, in John 5:26, Jesus continues to express equality with God by declaring he has always had life in himself. That being said, to have eternal life goes beyond theological truth, because having eternal life is to have Christ himself. John later wrote, “... God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; Whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:11-12, ESV).
In essence, to have eternal life is to have Jesus, and to have Jesus is to have eternal life. Consequently, believers have a relationship with the living God who is with us always. Someone who’s there during our joys, trials, happiness, and sufferings. Sharing life with us and desiring that we grow daily in our relationship with Him.
If you have eternal life, Jesus now lives in you as does his resurrection power (John 14:15-18, Ephesians 1:20). This means we can be “set free” from the control of sin and its destructive power (John 8:32). Addiction, a broken heart caused by grief or a loss, while life-altering, does not have to be the end of your story. Neither does anxiety, depression, guilt, hopelessness, shame, or anything else that is troubling you. Jesus was victorious over death, and the one who loves you with unfailing love has all power and authority and is “your life” (Colossians 2:9-10, 3:3). Therefore, he can help us overcome the things keeping us from becoming what he created us to be. There’s more to your story, and it can begin now. In the present! By his grace, may we never give up on him. He won't give up on us.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for giving yourself forme on the cross, and to me when I believed. May you be my greatest treasure.

About this Plan

In John 5, after Jesus heals a man at the pool of Bethesda, he then declared that greater works would occur, causing people to be amazed. Over the next thirty days, this plan by Dr. P. J. Meduri from Taking the Field Ministries will explore the claims of Christ regarding these greater works. Works he continues today through his followers.
