Matthew: Healing in His Presence

DAY 3 OF 30

Jesus Heals Many People

What if you heard today that there was a man who healed diseases, illnesses and pain? Wouldn’t you do everything you could to see this man? That’s what the people from Galilee did 2,000 years ago.

They heard Jesus had healed people, so the word got out quickly about Him. People came from all over the region. And remember, this is before cars! This was no easy journey for many, especially if the person was sick or carrying an ill loved one. It could have taken days to catch up to where Jesus was.

I love that we also see so many caregivers, friends and family bringing those who are sick to Jesus. These caregivers desperately wanted their loved ones to be healed and made a point to get them an audience with Jesus. What a scene this must have been!

Scripture says that Jesus healed people with severe pain, those who were demon-possessed, folks suffering seizures and Galileans who were paralyzed. There was some good news coming from the hills of Galilee!

Questions:

1. If you had lived back then, what would have motivated you most to make the journey to see Jesus - your own healing or bringing someone you love?

2. What does this story teach us about the role of friends and family in helping us experience God’s power?

3. Do you need to be reminded today that Jesus still heals and restores?
