Discipleship: Foundations in the Old Testament – Part 1Sample

Hearing the Voice
Young Samuel slept near the Ark when the voice of the Lord pierced the night. At first he mistook it for Eli’s call, but under Eli’s guidance he learned to respond, “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.” Discipleship trains our spirits to recognize that voice. Without hearing God, ministry is noise; with His whisper, even ordinary steps carry eternal weight. The same Spirit who spoke to Samuel longs to speak to you—guiding, warning, comforting, and sending. Your task is to cultivate stillness and obedience so that when He speaks, you respond without delay.
Prayer
Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.
Silence every competing sound in my mind and heart.
Teach me to discern Your whisper in Scripture, in prayer, and in the quiet of the day.
Give me courage to obey immediately whatever You reveal.
Let my life be proof that You still speak and that Your sheep know Your voice.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Action
Create a quiet time today: read 1 Samuel 3 aloud, wait ten full minutes in silence, and write down every impression—verse, word, or sense of peace. Tomorrow, revisit those notes and thank God for anything He confirmed.

About this Plan

Long before Jesus sent His followers into the world, the Lord was already raising disciples—men and women who carried His presence and His Word. Over these three days, encounter God’s ancient pattern of discipleship and learn to walk in the same fire today.
