Breaking Hidden Habits to Find True Healing in ChristSample

FREEDOM FROM SELF-HARM (CUTTING ONESELF)
Self-harm is often a silent cry for help, a way of coping with deep pain, confusion or trauma. For some young people, cutting or other forms of self-injury bring momentary relief, but leave behind shame, scars and isolation. In fact, studies show that around 17% of adolescents have engaged in non-suicidal self-injury at least once, many suffering in silence.
Though it may feel like no one understands, God does. He sees every hidden wound and draws near to the broken-hearted. Jesus came to bring life, not just for eternity, but here and now. He offers healing for the hurting and freedom for anyone who feels trapped in a cycle of self-destruction. Your body is His temple. You are deeply loved, fully known and valued beyond measure. Let Him carry your pain, speak truth to every lie and begin a journey of restoration where scars become stories of grace.
LET US GET PRACTICAL
Can you pinpoint the thing that upsets you the most? Something that you may feel too shy to share with anyone else? A hidden ache that you have been trying to cope with alone, one that God sees and longs to bring healing to?
Find a quiet moment and a safe space. Take a deep breath and imagine Jesus sitting right beside you. Hold your hand over the area where you usually feel the pain most deeply, maybe your chest, your arms, or even your mind and pray: "Jesus, this is where it hurts…" Name the feeling (e.g., rejected, worthless, angry, ashamed) and then say: "Jesus, I invite You into this pain. Please come into this place with Your love. I know You are here."
Sit quietly. You do not have to feel anything right away. As you do this regularly, Jesus always comes close to the broken-hearted (Psalm 34:18).
PRAYER
Jesus, I feel broken and overwhelmed. Heal my pain and fill me with Your peace and presence. Lord, thank You that You bore wounds so I could be made whole. Restore my heart.
