". . . and then I found ten dollars!"

This phrase is a helpful little life hack. If you ever start telling a story and realize it isn't nearly as interesting as you thought it was, or it isn't going anywhere, just say this at the end. Instantly, your story will catch everyone's attention.

We share stories because we want to tell about something extraordinary that happened to us or something terrible that happened to us. We do this because we want people to empathize or celebrate our experience with us. If we have a challenging experience, we hope our story can help others avoid what we went through, and if it was an amazing experience, we want to help others replicate what happened to us.

We share stories to help us feel known and connect with and help others. The same is true when it comes to sharing the good news.

Psalm 71 has some fantastic insight as you think about sharing the good news of what God has done in your life. It highlights two simple but profound things for you to consider talking about. First, share how God has rescued you and what that has meant in your life. Second, share all the amazing encounters you have had with God that you want others to experience, as well.

God has brought you through some pretty incredible moments. So as you talk about them, you may never need the "I found ten dollars" life hack again.

What if that same mindset inspired us to live differently in our lives? What if we looked to God for ways to be extreme and do the unexpected in places like generosity?
