DAY 17 OF 20

Do you know anyone who always tells the truth? The kind of person whose word you can always count on? Someone who will never say one thing and do another? No matter how great the people in your life may be, the reality is that no one in the world can always be honest, dependable, or faithful to their word and character. That’s not because the people in our lives are inherently bad or deceptive. It’s simply because they’re people! No human is ever going to be capable of being faithful in all they do! That’s when rooting our understanding of God’s faithful character in Scripture is so important. As the Psalmist declared, the word of the Lord is both right and true. It’s something we can always count on for consistency and honesty. But this isn’t just true of God’s word - it’s true of God’s character. The faithfulness we find in Scripture reflects the faithfulness of the God who inspired it. It’s a reflection of the unending faithfulness we can always find in God.

This week, spend time reflecting on God’s faithfulness in your life. As you do, thank Him for the fact that faithfulness is His nature. It’s one thing you can always find when you look to God!

About this Plan

Always

As humans, we all wonder what God is really like? Is God kind, loving, powerful, attentive, loyal? Is God distant, unfair, harsh, judgmental, or absent? In other words, we’re asking: what can we be sure is always true about who God is? In this devotional, we’ll look to Scripture to explore those questions and ground the answers in unshakeable, unchangeable truth, uncovering more about who God is and why we can trust Him not just now, but always.
