Restored to Become (Bonus)

The story does not end with Mephibosheth simply eating at the king’s table. Scripture tells us something subtle but powerful: “Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table.” His address changed. His environment changed. His future changed.

Restoration was not just about healing the past—it was about shaping what came next.

This is where identity becomes mission. When God restores you, He is not merely repairing what was broken. He is repositioning you to live, lead, and influence from who you truly are. Restoration is never the end goal. Becoming is.

For years, Mephibosheth lived defined by what happened to him. But proximity to the king rewrote his story. Being close reshaped how he saw himself, how others saw him, and how he moved through life. Identity grows where presence is practiced.

This is the heart of The Identity Project: once you know who you are, you will know who you are not. Restoration clarifies identity, and identity fuels purpose.

Jesus, the true King, does the same with us. When we stay close to Him, old labels lose their power. Shame no longer leads. Fear no longer decides. We begin to live from wholeness instead of wounds.

Ask yourself today: Who am I becoming now that I am seated with the King? What decisions, boundaries, and rhythms need to align with this restored identity?

You were not restored to return to Lo Debar. You were restored to become who God always intended.

Reflection Questions:
Who am I becoming as I stay close to Jesus?
What no longer fits the identity God is restoring in me?

Prayer:
Jesus, help me live from who You say I am.

Declaration:
I am restored—and I am becoming who God created me to be.
