You're Free. Now Live Free.

DEVOTIONAL

Twenty-one days ago we began with a question: what if the freedom you have been straining for is something you already have? Now you know the answer. You do.

This whole journey has been one long unlearning of striving. You did not earn your way free, you woke up to the freedom Christ already won. You discovered that the real problem was never your behaviour but your owner, and that He changed. You learned that grace is the cure and not a painkiller, that repentance is changing your mind and not feeling bad, that the cry inside you is Abba, not slave. You sat down at the table. You stopped running someone else's race. And you found that your freedom was always meant to overflow.

So hear the verdict one more time, and let it settle. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit of life has set you free. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. It is for freedom that Christ has set you free. Not a freedom you are chasing. A freedom you are standing in.

You were never meant to spend your life trying to get free so that one day you could finally rest. You were meant to rest in the freedom that is already yours, and to live from it.

The door was open the whole time. Today you simply walk through it, and keep walking, as the free, secure, dearly loved son or daughter you have always been in Christ.

You are free. So go and live free.

PRAYER

Father, thank You that my freedom was finished before I ever started striving for it. Thank You that I am Your child, secure and free in Christ. I stop trying to get free. From this day on, I will live free, by Your Spirit. Amen.
