DAY 4: PURIFIED AT THE ALTAR
When we look at this scripture, it references the seraphim taking a coal from the altar of the Lord. You see, the throne is for God, but the altar is for us! By taking the coal from the altar, it symbolises leaving our sin, shame and guilt at the feet of Jesus. Fire cleanses and purifies. This coal wasn’t a cold, old flame. It was a live coal, burning from the altar of the Lord. As we come to the throne of God, his holy spirit fire cleanses and purifies us!
It was only once Isaiah had met with the Lord, once he was convicted of the sin that was in his life and was then cleansed by the fiery coal, that he was then ready to GO for the Lord! We simply cannot do the things God has called us to do if we are still carrying sin and shame from the past. There must first be a moment at the altar, where we allow God to purify us and cleanse us of all the things that don’t belong. Then, we are ready to serve the Lord.
What are some things that you need to allow the Holy Spirit to deal with before being commissioned into all that God is calling you to do? Do you need to have a moment at the altar and allow God to purify you of some things? Once we let the Holy Spirit do his work, we can do the work of the Lord!
PRAY: God, I lay my life on the altar - I surrender to you. Have every word, every thought. I let go of the past - purify my heart. I'm ready for what you have for me.

This is a plan, particularly for young people, that is an encouragement to seek God and pray bold prayers like Isaiah: Here am I. Send me.
