Walking Through Easterნიმუში

Day 1: The Messiah’s Triumphant Entry
When Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey, it was not a random detail. It was a deliberate fulfillment of prophecy. Zechariah 9:9 declared that Israel’s King would come to them “righteous and having salvation… humble and mounted on a donkey.” Every Jewish person present would have recognized the symbolism.
The people shouted, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” Hosanna means “Save us now.” They were acknowledging Him as the promised Messiah. Yet many expected political deliverance, not salvation from sin.
Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem was triumphant, but it pointed toward suffering. The King had come, not to overthrow Rome, but to bear the sins of His people. His victory would come through sacrifice.
Holy Week invites us to look carefully at who Jesus truly is. He is the promised King. He is the Savior. And John 1:12 reminds us that “to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”
This is the heart of the Gospel: the King came to save. Our response is not simply admiration, but faith.
Reflection:
- What expectations did the crowd have about Jesus, and how do they differ from His true mission?
- Have you personally trusted Him as your King and Savior?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You are the promised King who came to save. Help me to trust You fully and to speak clearly about who You are to others this week. Amen.

About this Plan

In this 5-day devotional, you will walk through key moments of Easter week: the Triumphal Entry, the fulfillment of the Passover, Jesus’ prayer in Gethsemane, the Last Supper, and the cross. Each day is rooted in Scripture and centered on the core truths of the Gospel—Christ’s substitutionary death, the forgiveness of sins, and the righteousness given to all who trust in Him. As you reflect on the cost of redemption, you will also be reminded of your calling and strengthened in your confidence in sharing it with others during this meaningful season.
