Exodus: From Suffering to Salvation

DAY 6 OF 7

Knowing the God Who Redeems Me

Northrop Frye once said that Exodus is “the only thing that happens in the Bible.”It is not merely about God and Moses; it is about us. It is about the way we cry out in our pain even today, the way we chase after false hopes, and the way God breaks into our lives to offer something more.

This freedom is available to all who wish to receive it, but it came at a cost.

For Israel, a lamb had to be sacrificed in order for their families to be protected from the wrath God poured out on their captors. This day—later known as the Passover—would become a celebration to remember the Exodus.

For us, a greater sacrifice had to be made—one that would cover our sins and break our chains once and for all. That is who Jesus is. That is God: our Redeemer—the one who brings us back from where sin has stranded us and into His loving arms.

Picture that moment on the cross. Jesus, the perfect Lamb of God, suffering so that your burdens could be lifted.

His love for you was not just spoken; it was poured out with every drop of blood that fell.

Then, three days later, His heart beats again.

This is the climax of the Exodus melody that runs through the entire Bible. At the stroke of this note, creation was changed forever.

In your darkest moments, when anxiety tightens its grip, or when failure and guilt cloud your view, remember that Jesus is your Redeemer—one who not only knows your struggles but has already overcome them on your behalf.

Through Jesus, and only Jesus, the cycle of sin and shame has been broken. In the Lamb of God, you are redeemed.

Reflection:

What would your life look like if you truly believed that you are no longer a slave to sin?

Prayer:

Jesus, I am not worthy of being redeemed, but You died for me anyway. Thank You for loving me and redeeming me by Your blood. Amen.
