Day One – Break Every Chain
There is not one of you who hasn’t struggled with something, or someone, or even yourself, that hasn’t gotten the best of you. Call it a habit, an addiction, a circumstance, a cesspool of thoughts, a financial crisis, or even an evil spirit. Whatever it is, and it can be many other things that I have not mentioned, it is something that holds you in its grip and gets the best of you.
It might be good to understand that it not only gets the best of you, it also takes the best from you, as it robs you of joy, peace and the freedom that God wants to give you. But, here’s the good news. Jesus wants to take this life-sapping sucker off of you, if you will let Him. If I can get you to come to the truth that you are in some kind of bondage if it is true, then we can begin a process that pries it off of your life. Let’s begin with what Jesus said about Himself:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18 ESV)
Jesus read a prophecy in His hometown of Nazareth, which was this verse taken from Isaiah 61:1. He connected the prophecy and its fulfillment. He was the fulfillment. He made it clear that it is He who sets “at liberty those who are oppressed.” Now this is a very important point. It is Jesus who can set you free from death, and the bondage you may be in while alive. It is His Modus Operandi to do this. It was His mission with coming to this planet in His creation, and it is His mission to you now. He can and will set you free, if you will allow Him to break the chains that bind you to the bondage you are in.
These five days I will not explore the typical types of bondages that men have, and there are many, but will rather deal with the ways we are given to allow Jesus to break any and all of them. He is our Bondage Breaker, and He can break them all if we surrender them to Him. Whether I mention your issue in particular is not important. You will hear the fundamentals that will address all issues including yours, as the week unfolds. I look forward to hearing from you, when those chains fall away from you, and to hear your words, “I am free!!!” We will both celebrate your freedom.
I ask you to start this week of battle by listening to one of my favorite songs, Break Every Chain. You can find it on YouTube or your preferred music service. Listen to it, and I want you to revisit this song as often as you like, for it will remind you that you have Someone who gave His life so that you can be set free.

Many believers are in bondage, enslaved by all kinds of struggles, addictions, oppression, sin. Jesus came and died to set us free, not just to give us a pathway to heaven, but to give us freedom on earth as well. If you feel imprisoned spiritually, let us show you how the Bondage Breaker can open the door to your jail cell.
