Day Three – Dead Man Walking

I haven’t fought in the armed services. I can only share what has been told to me. What I have been told is there is no more fearless friend or enemy than one who has entered a battle unafraid of death. How can this be that they can overcome a basic instinct of survival? It must be in their mind that what they are fighting for is greater than their life. These people tend to see themselves metaphorically dead already, and if the physical aspect comes it is expected.

When we look at the suicide bombers with explosives strapped to their bodies, we get an idea how they are thinking. The problem is they hasten themselves to eternal fire instead of paradise as they are brainwashed to believe, for they missed the true Person who their life and death should be given to.

I look at these people and shake my head while thinking, “They are willing to die for what they believe about God and what they have been taught, because they have never learned to know Him and live with Him through close proximity with Jesus the Christ. What deceived people they are to give their lives for a false prophet and his false teachings, and in turn miss the salvation that could be theirs.” How does this example relate to becoming a spiritual warrior who overcomes your spiritual enemy? Consider:

The consecrated life that is mentioned in Romans 12: 1-2 is stated as a “Living sacrifice.” What does this mean? We understand how the sacrifice of our life for death is to die for something. But the living sacrifice is to live for something, or in the case of the consecrated life of a Christian, it is to live for Jesus. Now it is true that living for Jesus has led many people to their death. They have chosen death over life if it meant denying Jesus, and it got them killed. But their metaphoric death had already been embraced, and as a result, they lived fearlessly while alive.

They lived victoriously. They lived in companionship with Jesus, and they just knew that nothing could snatch them out of His hands, or interrupt their lives, except by His permission. This creates a courageous man, and it is this man who becomes a dangerous warrior in spiritual battles. The only thing that keeps this warrior from being a conqueror over any and all darkness that comes at him is not knowing who he is, what he is capable of doing, or Who he serves.

If you want to have the chains of bondage broken from you, it will require you to hand yourself and your rights to yourself over to Jesus, and start to live for Him through personal abandonment and absolute trust in Jesus Christ. Then, many victories will be yours.

What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I could be God’s man. Christ’s life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not “mine,” but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that.

The Bondage Breaker

Many believers are in bondage, enslaved by all kinds of struggles, addictions, oppression, sin. Jesus came and died to set us free, not just to give us a pathway to heaven, but to give us freedom on earth as well. If you feel imprisoned spiritually, let us show you how the Bondage Breaker can open the door to your jail cell.
