Becoming In Faith

Dia 1 de 4

I want to talk about these voices that we hear. Are they God’s voice? Is it ours? Could it be the stranger’s? We need to know how to stop hearing the stranger’s voice and how to hear God’s voice in order to become who we already are in Christ.

When he has brought all his own sheep outside, he walks on ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice and recognize his call. They will never follow a stranger, but will run away from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” -John 10:4-5 (AMP)

This is so critical to hear. It’s saying that we are commanded not to listen to the strangers’ voice. I find that most Christians aren’t being mindful when they tune in. But we were actually created to tune in and hear the voice of the shepherd. John 10 is saying to use your keen ability to hear the voice of the shepherd. Block out the voice of the stranger to the point that you don’t recognize the voice of the stranger anymore, that you can’t even hear their calls. Our ears should be in tune with the shepherd.

Read the verse again. The sheep follow him because they know his voice and recognize his call.

How often do you find yourself questioning whether you are hearing God’s voice or you’re only listening to your own thoughts? Probably pretty often if you’re like most people. We all struggle with this for a season, but we must grow into hearers and doers of the Word. How can we do when we cannot hear?

Let me share a quick example. I was just driving one day and had the random thought. I felt like somebody was going to run the stoplight that I was approaching. I had the green light. I thought, “That was dumb. Why did I think that?” I decided I’d back off the gas, I did, and guess what? Someone ran the stoplight. I would have been there! I just thought about how gentle God’s voice is. God is such a gentle Father. His voice is so quiet and gentle - like a gentle whisper. We have to be tuning into His constant conversing with us so that we know what is really going on.

Hearing God is critical to becoming your true identity!

Becoming In Faith

In this reading plan, we are going to talk about the three stages to becoming like Christ. First, Unbecoming - which we are all unbecoming before Christ; The Becoming Stage - as we are learning to take our thoughts captive; and finally, the I Have Become who God says I am. Do you want to love others well? Then let’s become who God already says we are!
